The May 8 surprise

It was Thursday, May 8 and we just realized that we were running out of food in the house. By food, I mean adult food. Jeff and I consumed everything that we bought from Metro Supermarket (like WalMart and Carrefour) and the open air market (which we go to every other day for fresh produce) three weeks ago.

So… it was time for the Ruffolo grocery shopping at Metro!

I love dressing up the twins even when Nick is just seated in his stroller and Toni is strapped to me. It takes a lot of effort to bring out twins in the open but I always appreciate the change of environment – it can be really lonely inside a 300-square-meter apartment located on the 19th floor.

At Metro (this sounds like Metro Gaisano back in Cebu), I saw Magic Flakes with the phrashe Apat Dapat in its packaging. The moment I read that phrase, I got so happy jumpy. I just found a piece of home on that shelf! I am not promoting you but thank you, Universal Robina Corporation (URC) for this. It was a pleasant surprise.

More about the Magic Flakes encounter and more photos of the twins down….

BELOW.

Enjoy!

I was pushing Nick’s stroller and Toni was strapped to me (while Jeff was pushing the biggest grocery cart in the world) when I saw this:

To those who do not know, Magic Flakes is  a product of a Filipino company called Universal Robina Corporation (URC). URC is a subsidiary of JG Summit Holdings, Inc. of the Gokongwei Family. When I was in Shanghai for a short-term study in 2010 under a scholarship from the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, I learned that URC’s China Office is located in Jiading District, Shanghai making it possible for Magic Flakes (and other URC products) reach China’s supermarkets and grocery stores.

Because of this discovery – and I swear, I was so happy to see something Filipino and familiar – I had to take this photo:

Back at home, Toni was still in this outfit:

…when Nick said, he wants to play. Sorry, this one is a blurred photo:

But the little girl didn’t want to play. She got another headband – pink, this time – and asked me to put it on her. But the twin brother insisted. He wants to play:

And then the following happened:

Thankfully, the night ended with hugs and kisses. Nobody got hurt.

That’s good news.
