The birth of the photos with quotes

On the 14th of May 2014, I started taking pictures of Nicholas and Antoinette with a blank wall as the background.

I was sick and I was inspired by an essay entitled “To Write” by Gemino Abad and was published in Likhaan: The Journal of Contemporary Philippine Literature, Volume 5 (2011).

He wrote:

If we demand from the writer a mastery of his medium, his language, by which he is able to overcome its limitations, the writer must also exact from his readers the same mastery of the language. It is the sense for language that  is the basic poetic sense, and that needs to be cultivated. What deteriorates is not language itself but the sense for language among its users.”

It just made me less ashamed of what I write and what I do to write.

I took some pictures of the twins with the thought of pairing these photos with quotes from different authors/people then share them as “Quote of the Week.” You have already seen two of those photos with quotes from Mother Teresa and Oscar Wilde.

Here are some of the photos that won’t be included as backdrops to Quotes of the Week but should be shared if only for Nicholas and Antoinette’s smiles:
