Single ladies, heads up! (I Was Blind Dating, But Now I See)

Single ladies, heads up!

I was blind... stephanie rische readingruffolos

If you are alone, tired of introducing yourself again and again to different guys in every date, then this might be the book that will embrace you with the sense of belongingness that you’ve been looking for.

In I Was Blind (Dating), But Now I See, meet Stephanie Rische, your bestfriend who knows exactly how you feel as every single friend and family member walks down the aisle with you participating as the eternal bridesmaid.

Rische’s light writing makes for an easy read as she injects humor in all the right places allowing us, readers otherwise known as third party observers, to picture the life she lived and the guys she (blind) dated.

I’m happily married with three kids but reading Rische took me back to my single days, alone in an apartment that can fit five people, feeling totally unattractive, neglected, and abandoned I might as well go to the streets and beg for love.

Sounds desperate? Yep, that was me! So when I read Rische, I found myself constantly nodding my head in every chapter like that annoying cat and dog figurines taxi drivers accessorized their units with.

There is a lot to learn in this book not only in the arena of blind dating, but also in the field of self development and improvement. This is a Christian novel and thus the author writes her spiritual insights and realizations as she lived her life meeting one guy after another.

Parents: this is a wholesome book. So if there’s a story you want to give your daughter when she turns 16 or 18, this might be the book to share.

I read and felt agitation in this book. The desire to hurry up, to catch up with those who are way ahead in the rat race,  to make up for lost times and paint the perfect picture of the perfect partner. As Rische unveils her story from chapter to chapter, I was slowly reading and feeling patience.

She comes out of this book sharing a valuable insight to the single ladies out there: that choosing a partner is not a slipshod decision. It is carefully evaluated starting with knowing yourself and getting guidance from THE ONE who loves you first and foremost before the earthly The One meets you at the end of the aisle.

I was not totally engross on this one and took me three days to finish it (on and off reading time spending two hours per reading). The I’m-not-in-a-hurry-to-finish-reading-this-book attitude is due to the fact that I had more or less an idea on where the book is going. Even then, it was still an enjoyable and spiritually charging read that I am giving this book an eight out of 10 stars.

This is a non-fiction book written and arranged by a passionate storyteller who wholeheartedly shared her misadventures in dating, waiting, and stumbling into love.

Ladies, there is hope.
