Children’s Day at the Garden

The twins turned 11 months old last June 1! It’s crazy how time flies so fast.

To celebrate their day, the idea – really – was to take the children out in the garden in the afternoon so we can escape the scorching heat of Guangzhou’s sun and the oh-so-unbearable humid weather in this part of the Middle Kingdom. It was a bonus that the the resident manager of the hotel apartment sent us an invitation to join the Children’s Day celebration here at the Garden Hotel. So we went!

Here is Nicholas and me taking self-wes while Jeff and Toni were waiting for us. Hehehe.

We arrived at the tailend of the festivity so almost all food stalls are running out of food. Play stations were wrapping up their tents although some kids were still jumping up and down the trampoline castle when we got there. I wanted to put Nick and Toni there but Jeff was concerned that the older kids might fall over and crush the twins (yikes!) so we just wheeled them around the garden and found two clowns, who were making balloons for kids.

And here is where everyone laughed when they saw Toni looking at one clown with her classic something-is-fundamentally-wrong-with-you stare.

All in all we had fun as we met several families and hotel staff that Jeff worked with for years. The garden is a perfect place to spend a quiet afternoon. I have never enjoyed this part of the property this much. I found a cozy, little nook for reading and writing. I’m going back. 🙂
